Halloween Crafting

Image
What a busy couple of days we have had getting ready for Halloween! We made a few super easy crafts I wanted to share on here and the how to and we finally got to carve pumpkins. Yay! Then today for Halloween the kids got to dress up like book characters for school. They are Judy Moody, Pete the Cat and Dog man- in case you couldn't tell. We are super excited to go trick-or-treating this evening, even if it's suppose to rain. So..... here is our bats made from a egg carton. How cute did these turn out!!?? What you need:  -Googly Eyes  -Egg carton  -Black paint  -Glue  -Scissors We cut the egg cartons up first and kind of shaped the wings by cutting off excess egg carton. Then we painted the egg cartons and let them dry. Next glue on the eyes. Then Poke two holes on the top big enough for the ribbon to fit through. Then tie your ribbon and your bats are ready to fly! Paper Lanterns   Next we made our lanterns .

Let's talk about candles

I don't hate to many things, but there is not a lot that I do hate more then the smell of cinnamon candles/pine cones/ spray etc, I know I am not alone here. So if you're like me you have probably gone the majority of your life disliking fall/ winter candles or scents of any kind. That cinnamon smell literally makes me nausea. The smell of artificial cinnamon pine cones- those things are not allowed in my house and there is no escaping them when you go out shopping, polluting the air everywhere, punching you right in the face for 3 months straight. Real cinnamon is allowed in my house, I like real cinnamon. I don't get the connection with cinnamon and Christmas? Fall- I get that. Cinnamon, pumpkin, spices and apples. I wanted to share some of my favorite fall candles with you! So as a bath and body works lover just like the next gal, I can say I love their fall collection and I usually stock up! BUT my all time favorite candle is "Fall in Love" by Sonoma and the

Steady Yourself

Steady Yourself  Steady yourself, love steady yourself for victory is near  Shut out the world  with it's tyranny  of noise none of this matters now Draw strength from the vision the deepest  folds of your soul so longs for For it is a song we all sing Steady yourself, love, upon my gaze in this corridor & waver not in the face of the battle cry We will not be beaten! Lose not your faith now for I need it to strengthen my own and should your steps falter, mine would grow lonely in this world of coal and roses We are the living  and the living  must love the world It is our duty to fill our hearts with all the anguish and joy of our brothers and sisters Steady yourself, love, be strong beside me and know that our unrelenting gives them dis-ease, and that the clearer your mouth raises itself in songs of freedom th

A Bunch of Hocus Pocus

This weekend went by wayyyyy to fast!!! Doesn't help that Ben worked until noon on Saturday and I worked a double yesterday so I wasn't home for 18 hours. So we tried to fit everything we wanted to do as a family in on Saturday afternoon-night. We went to the pumpkin patch and went for a mile hayride through the fields and then got to pick out the perfect pumpkins, we unfortunately didn't have time to carve them so we are saving that for Wednesday for when we are all together again.  Then we packed a nice picnic dinner of crackers, cheese, fruit and seafood pate and a big thermos of hot cocoa and walked down pulling our wagon to the park where the local theater put on a movie in the park. We got to watch Hocus Pocus on the big screen! The kids got to trick or treat through the park at a few spots, they did a parade with all the kids dressed up and then they had a costume contest- we did not win. lol I can't believe Halloween is this week!! Happy Monday! Let this week
