The day after Thanksgiving

Image
What a perfect day after Thanksgiving! We were just missing dad who had gone duck hunting then to work for the day. We woke up and Cuddles our elf on the self had arrived and left a present of a Lego advent calendar. Hopefully we will have some good boys and girl since a little elf is just around the corner watching their every move and reporting back to Santa. Then after breakfast we bundled up and went down to the beach and had a blast. We took a nice walk and collected some treasures. Addy found the biggest clam shell! It was a good morning. Then we had dentist appointments and later that night we went downtown for the arrival of Santa on the firetruck. So much Christmas magic, lights and glitter in the air.

Thankful

I woke up yesterday morning with a little man in my bed, with his arm thrown a cross my neck and his face buried into me, happy he didn't have school and we discussed our favorite dinosaurs and what we were thankful for. He is thankful for LOVE. Ben was out duck hunting. I smoked some green beans with bacon. He came home and made mashed potatoes and rotisserie duck. Then we went to celebrate all we are thankful for with the ones we are thankful for, not just today, but everyday. We ate-A LOT, drank wine, played games and ate more- can’t forget dessert! We went to bed with full bellies, full hearts and full eyes waiting for Cuddles the elf to show up and begin the Christmas cheer!

Cookies and Crafts

My house is full of the aroma of freshly baked cookies.  Mom came over and we had a good day of well- first running around doing errands and THEN finally able to bake a ton of cookies (three different kinds) for Thanksgiving tomorrow. It was nice to spend some down time with her baking and catching up.  The kids had a half of day from school and mom brought crafts she made from her cricket for the kids to make. They are tealight Christmas tree ornaments and came out extremely cute! Addy is now down the road playing with her cousins and making pie while the boys are relaxing at home with me as I finish up some more preparations for tomorrow. Dinner is in the crock-pot (corn-beef) and Ben should be home in a few hours. <3

I will love you when you are a still day. I will love you when you are a hurricane.

I am not the first person you loved. You are not the first person I looked at with a mouthful of forevers. We have both known loss like the sharp edges of a knife. We have both lived with lips more scar tissue than skin. Our love came unannounced in the middle of the night. Our love came when we’d given up on asking love to come. I think that has to be part of its miracle. This is how we heal. I will kiss you like forgiveness. You will hold me like I’m hope. Our arms will bandage and we will press promises between us like flowers in a book. I will write sonnets to the salt of sweat on your skin. I will write novels to the scar of your nose. I will write a dictionary of all the words I have used trying to describe the way it feels to have finally, finally found you. And I will not be afraid of your scars. I know sometimes it’s still hard to let me see you in all your cracked perfection, but please know: whether it’s ...
