Christmas thru New Years

Finally getting around to posting Christmas pictures!!! We had a very nice Christmas. We went to my grandma's house Christmas eve like we have done every year as far back as I can remember. We made a big ol brunch of waffles, bacon, casseroles, hash, fruit and mimosa! Then we threw a little last minute Christmas eve party at our house with all our family, which everyone really seemed to enjoy. We had finger food, drinks, music and a bonfire. 

We woke up Christmas morning, to three eager, impatient kids ready to open presents. We ran downstairs (made coffee) and opened presents. We relaxed at home throughout the day and let the kids stay in pajamas and play all day- that's what Christmas day is all about right?

My parents came over for a visit and ended up constructing legos with the little guy. Then later in the afternoon we took a nice walk around town then cooked up a nice ham dinner!! 

The kids winter break literally just flew by. I didn’t get to do even half of what I planned with them. I would have liked to visit friends and family more. I feel like we didn’t really see anyone.

I can’t believe how much unused stuff I bagged up to go to goodwill. So that’s on the list for this weekend to get out of the house along with hopefully ice skating!!


Christmas Day Walk

Ben's brother got us turkey legs for Christmas, we will be eating them this weekend and I cannot wait!

We went out and took a walk to the beach the day after Christmas and then a nice loooooong walk with my father-in-love in the woods. 




New Year's eve we watched The Sound of Music and all stayed up until midnight and counted down into the new year. We embraced the new year with lots of hugs and kisses and then bedtime.

New Year's day we made a big yummy breakfast and the last two years we've gone down to the same beach, we took a beach walk and watched the waves of 2019 roll away as we watched 2020 roll in. 
We had a nice steak and lobster dinner with my parents at our house. So we definitely brought the new year in with a bang- besides battling a bad toothache the last week and finally getting into the dentist for tomorrow to see what is going on in there to relieve this pain!!

Shortest Month

It’s February!! - well the end anyways!!! The shortest month. Last week we woke up to heavy snow pounding down. This time of year is always deceitful, just when we think our part of the world is that much closer to spring-  the temps drop to chilling and a blizzard hits. Heavy snow that lasts until the sun shines bright each day and slowly melts away. At least there has been sunshine! Wonderful, wonderful sunshine that helps us survive through these dark months and guides us back into the light.  We've been doing a lot of house cleaning and greenhouse visits. Monday and Tuesday there was no school, so we hung out, were lazy, cooked good food. I started writing this as the kids skated around in circles at the ice rink. Spring ahead

                                           While I’m out and down with a spell of something that I’m hoping isn’t bronchitis or lead to pneumonia- negative for the flu, COVID and RSV at least, I figured I’d come try and write a little. I’ve been so weak and tired and out of sorts. I’ve read two books this week and started my third.  As spring turns over to summer. The temperatures rise. The rain falls. The grass grows tall. The bugs crawl from their hiding places. The people emerge from their homes, ready to fling open the windows and take in the spring breeze to cleanse the winter blues and dust from their homes. The kids are shooed outside to soak up the fresh air and sunshine. The radio plays our favorite songs. There’s the unmistakable sound of the hose being turned on. I write.

What an absolutely beautiful life.  Sitting on our front porch with my head on your shoulder, you turn to me and say “look at this little life we’ve built.” 💕  It’s been almost 7 months since I last blogged, so many times I wrote and never finished. I'm always writing. Always writing whats in my heart or mind. I write to express myself, whether it be my wedding vows or about my son's football team winning the youth Super Bowl . I twist and turn the words until they make sense and are ready for me to share out into the world. I used to paint, scrapbook, write poetry and have a ton of other hobbies to pass the time, but for now I just write and take as many pictures as I can. I'm busy building life, homemaking, home schooling, working when I do, trying to be a good wife, daughter, sister, friend and raising my three children- and that to me is the most beautiful poetic thing I can think of.  Someday, there will be time to paint, to travel, but right now, I'm exactly wher...
