A day like any other
Early morning conversations with a 9 year old while I’m sipping coffee.
Talking about eye color,
I just recently learnt that only 2% of the world has green eyes, I’m one of the lucky ones.
He says, “ That’s like an inch of the world.”
Going over light sabers.
Playing with halo people next to me on the table.
Then the pitter patter of fast feet that don’t know how to walk, but they are always on the run.
Down the stairs,
Across the kitchen,
Into my lap where I cuddle him in close and bury him under the blanket around my shoulders while the sleep fades from his eyes.
Dark skies, the sun not yet up.
Watching for birds to come feed from the window feeder.
The small moments of our world disappearing.
As life everywhere wakes up and becomes noisy.
And then a day, like any other has begun.
