It's been awhile



It's been awhile. We are all still alive and well. Life has been well and wonderfully busy with the  incoming warm weather. 

Busy finishing up the school year, enjoying the boats in the water,  hanging onto warmer weather, lots of family time and good food and focusing on what's really important- ((each other)). 

We've been spending as much time as we can down on the water in our boat barefoot and sunkissed. We spent memorial day and have been spending evenings on the boat eating dinners hanging out on the dock. We decided Thursdays were boat-dinner-get-togethers with our family who are at the same marina, so hoping for that to become a new tradition. Kind of like a pot luck. 

Ben and I slept over on our boat Saturday night without kids to try it out before we loaded them on for an overnight trip. Neither of us could sleep, the waves were loud against the boat and we were worried we were drifting away. BUT it was a lot of fun. We anchored, then went and took our dingy to shore and went out to dinner together and then back to the boat to watch a movie. It was just amazing waking up to the sun rising along the water. I'm sure we can get used to the noise and get more comfortable, I mean there's always afternoon summer naps we can take in the boat too if we are up all night. 

It's been a pretty chilly June so far. We have had a handful of hot days, but mostly cooler ones and rain. Not quite warm enough to swim in the ocean, but the kids have been though. They have been enjoying the pool in the yard too and dad set them up with a zipline into it. 

It's a rainy Monday, Addy has a cold, so today we will rest and stay home and have coziness together. The week is filling up quickly and seems to be a busy one, as is our summer.

Shortest Month

It’s February!! - well the end anyways!!! The shortest month. Last week we woke up to heavy snow pounding down. This time of year is always deceitful, just when we think our part of the world is that much closer to spring-  the temps drop to chilling and a blizzard hits. Heavy snow that lasts until the sun shines bright each day and slowly melts away. At least there has been sunshine! Wonderful, wonderful sunshine that helps us survive through these dark months and guides us back into the light.  We've been doing a lot of house cleaning and greenhouse visits. Monday and Tuesday there was no school, so we hung out, were lazy, cooked good food. I started writing this as the kids skated around in circles at the ice rink. It was the last day open for the season. When things come to an end, they make room for new beginnings- like spring of course! But now, I’m finishing writing this a few days later. Spring ahead

                                           While I’m out and down with a spell of something that I’m hoping isn’t bronchitis or lead to pneumonia- negative for the flu, COVID and RSV at least, I figured I’d come try and write a little. I’ve been so weak and tired and out of sorts. I’ve read two books this week and started my third.  As spring turns over to summer. The temperatures rise. The rain falls. The grass grows tall. The bugs crawl from their hiding places. The people emerge from their homes, ready to fling open the windows and take in the spring breeze to cleanse the winter blues and dust from their homes. The kids are shooed outside to soak up the fresh air and sunshine. The radio plays our favorite songs. There’s the unmistakable sound of the hose being turned on. I write.

What an absolutely beautiful life.  Sitting on our front porch with my head on your shoulder, you turn to me and say “look at this little life we’ve built.” 💕  It’s been almost 7 months since I last blogged, so many times I wrote and never finished. I'm always writing. Always writing whats in my heart or mind. I write to express myself, whether it be my wedding vows or about my son's football team winning the youth Super Bowl . I twist and turn the words until they make sense and are ready for me to share out into the world. I used to paint, scrapbook, write poetry and have a ton of other hobbies to pass the time, but for now I just write and take as many pictures as I can. I'm busy building life, homemaking, home schooling, working when I do, trying to be a good wife, daughter, sister, friend and raising my three children- and that to me is the most beautiful poetic thing I can think of.  Someday, there will be time to paint, to travel, but right now, I'm exactly wher...
